The Boca Royale Semper Fi Fund Charity Fundraiser was established in 2010 by a group of Boca Royale Golf and Country Club residents after a visit to Washington, DC where they were the guests of the Commandant of the Marine Corps. During the Commandant's event they were introduced to Ms. Karen Guenther, the founder and CEO of the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund. The injured Marine Semper Fi Fund was established in May 2004 to provide financial assistance and quality of life solutions to Marines and Sailors injured in post 9/11 combat and their families. The Fund also supports soldiers and other service members injured while in direct support of Marine units and their families. The Fund helps defray the expenses incurred during hospitalization, rehabilitation and recovery as well as assist with expenses associated with the purchase of the specialized equipment, adaptive vehicles and home modifications. More detailed information may be found on the Fund's website: www SEMPERFIFUND.org.
We were moved by the work Ms. Guenther was doing that we decided to pitch in and help. We sponsored, and continue to sponsor, an annual charity fundraiser held in the March-April timeframe. The fundraiser initially started as a golf event followed by a banquet and auction/raffle. In 2011 the event was expanded to include a tennis tournament as well. Since 2010 the Boca Royale Semper Fi Fund Charity Fundraiser has been an all-volunteer organization. We have raised and sent to the parent organization over $1,100,000 since 2010. The Boca Royale Semper Fi Fund Charity Fundraiser is a 501(c) 3 tax-exempt organization, hence all contributions are tax deductible.
